China will fully, faithfully and resolutely implement the "One Country, Two Systems," under which the people of Hong Kong administer Hong Kong and the people of Macao administer Macao, both with a high degree of autonomy, according to a government work report submitted on Wednesday to the national legislature for deliberation.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang delivered the work report on behalf of the State Council at the opening meeting of the third session of the 14th National People's Congress in Beijing.

The country will uphold constitutional order in the two special administrative regions (SAR) as stipulated in the Constitution and in the basic laws of both regions and see that Hong Kong and Macao are administrated by patriots, the report said.

China will support its Hong Kong and Macao SARs in growing their economies, improving the lives of their people, and deepening international exchanges and cooperation, ensuring that the two SARs better integrate themselves into national development and maintain long-term prosperity and stability, the report said.

Staying committed to the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus, China will resolutely oppose separatist activities aimed at "Taiwan independence" and external interference to promote the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations, it said.

The country will improve institutions and policies for promoting economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation across the Taiwan Straits and advance integrated cross-Straits development to improve the well-being of the Chinese people on both sides, it said.
