Africa's moment has arrived. On Africa Day, we look back at the founding of the Organization of African Unity in 1963 – a bold step towards unity, decolonization and development – and forward to a future shaped by the African Union's (AU) growing influence.

With the AU now a member of the G20 and set to host the summit for the first time, and with deeper ties to China through initiatives like the Belt and Road and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the continent is taking its place as a driving force in global affairs.
