Zhang Shuai of China and Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador beat Mexico's Giuliana Olmos and Britain's Lloyd Glasspool in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 to reach the mixed doubles semifinals at the French Open at Roland-Garros in Paris on Monday.

The second-seeded Zhang and Arevalo did not drop a set in the first two rounds. The pair maintained their momentum in this match, en route to taking the opener 6-3.

Arevalo, who is the World No. 1 in men's doubles, frequently showcased his strong serve and solid baseline skills, while Zhang provided stiff defense at the net. They converted a break point with precision to go in front 5-2 in the second set, moving to the cusp of victory.

The cross-Pacific partners sealed the deal 6-2 on a sharp volley from Arevalo. He and Zhang wrapped up the win in just 58 minutes, and will meet third-seeded Italian duo Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori in the last four.
