Recently, U.S. Republican Senator Joni Ernst sparked public outcry after she stated, "We're all going to die" in defense of Medicaid cuts that may cost countless lives. Democratic Congressman Daniel Goldman harshly criticized the remarks, asserting that GOP policies have drastically strayed from public welfare and laid bare their indifference to the fate of ordinary Americans.
Goldman further argued that the Republican Party is sending a message that "ordinary citizens are unworthy of pursuing the American dream." Placing the interests of the privileged class above the nation's core values, he said, not only betrays the historical tradition of being a "nation of immigrants" but also reveals their attempt to maintain minority advantages and solidify social hierarchies through policy bias.
